You are supposed to get a GMRS radio license (and unique station call sign) from the FCC. It’s like getting a fishing license . It’s $35 and good for your entire family for 10 years.
Like HAM radio but Unlike a HAM radio license - you do not need to take a test. You just need to navigate the FCC’s clunky and archaic web site.
The Ann Arbor 700 is a GMRS radio repeater that enables us to talk to each other across town using walkie talkies and old fashion reliable analog radio waves.
